Babergh District Council in Suffolk is using CCTV cameras hidden in drinks cans to catch fly-tippers, reports the Daily Mail.
The system of covert CCTV cameras has been implemented in an attempt to cut the cost of fly-tipping in the region, estimated to be £4 million a year.
The council's environmental protection officer, Jo Hart, said:
"Babergh faces a constant battle against the evils of fly-tipping and littering. However, we are getting smarter as to how we detect some offenders and deter others.
"The investment in our covert camera has been especially helpful in deterring would be fly-tippers as many of the previous hotspots in Babergh have seen sharply reduced amounts of rubbish."
