New CCTV Code of Practice
Published on 31 Mar 2008The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has produced an updated version of the CCTV Code of Practice, first released in 2000.
In the forward to the new publication the Information Commissioner explains that the Code has been updated because,
"...there have been advances in the way CCTV is used, the technology employed and the wider legal environment in which it operates. There have also been developments which may help achieve more privacy friendly ways of using CCTV. This revised code builds upon the previous guidance reflecting these changes and the lessons learnt of how it is used in practice."
The new CCTV Code of Practice can be downloaded from the ICO website.
