BCSC guide to shopping centre CCTV

Published on 28 Jan 2008

The British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) has produced a new publication 'CCTV Users Guide for Shopping Places'. The document contains information and advice on purchasing and upgrading appropriate CCTV systems for shopping centres.

The guide, which was compiled by BCSC's Security and Safer Shopping Committee, is in two parts - licensing, and operational requirement. It provides a checklist for the specification of a new CCTV system and also contains advice on planning the installation of a CCTV system. BCSC highlights the benefits of CCTV, including security and crime prevention; commercial benefits such as measuring footfall and pedestrian flow; personnel uses such as monitoring staff performance; and monitoring individual pieces of equipment.

The guide is available in hard copy or as a download from the BCSC website. It is £15 for members and £25 for non-members.
