West Midlands police have arrested more than 250 people since they began their crackdown on metal thefts, reports the BBC.
Police superintendent Laurie Dyer said:
"Metal theft can affect people in all walks of life. We have seen churches suffer theft of metal, businesses losing high value metal and people's homes being stripped of lead and copper.
"We want to eradicate this problem that can have a massive impact on families and businesses who fall victim to the crime."
