Security licensing comes to Scotland

Published on 28 Aug 2007

From November 1 2007 security personnel working in Scotland will have to be licensed, in line with their colleagues in England and Wales.

Scotland is adopting the Security Industry Act 2001 and the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) believes the changes will benefit Scottish businesses. BSIA Chief Executive David Dickinson said:

"Regulation will bring a number of benefits for businesses across Scotland, removing a minority of rogue security firms from operation and increasing peace of mind that your business is being looked after by trained and licensed individuals. Licensing will bring increased professionalism in the industry and businesses will reap the rewards."
