CCTV images infringe con-woman's human rights

Shopkeepers in Kensington have been told that they cannot publish CCTV images of a thief because the pictures would infringe her human rights.

The thief claims to be a wealthy Dubai woman who pretends she wants to make a number of purchases and leaves the shop to get a credit card from her driver. It is only when she fails to return that shopkeepers realise some of their stock is missing.

The same woman has been carrying out the scam for some time, but when one of her victims - jewellery designer Isabel Kurtenbach - asked police if she could distribute a warning picture to other local shopkeepers, she was told it would infringe the con-woman’s human rights.
